Always Waiting For The Best

“We’re all waiting for the best song ever
It’s somewhere out there, and everyone can feel it”

That’s from The Best Song Ever by Chris Rice, one of my all time favorite singers. Those words are very universal though. People as a whole are waiting for the best ______ ever. Filling in the blank is easy. There’s the best girlfriend, the best day, the best computer, the best boss, the best book, the best instrument, the best person, the best chair, et cetera.

That’s how we all live life. We may not all push for it, but we’re still waiting, hoping that the best _____ comes along. We’re willing to give our all for that when it comes along, and it’s not always the best thing for everyone.

For example, to me the best instrument is either the drums of the bass guitar. I love how the drums keep the beat, and the bass just has this amazing sound. Other people like other instruments, but those are best for me.

Anyway, my point is that as we wait, even when we find the best, sometimes, we don’t see it as that. Why? Because, even when something hits us deep down, we think that it’s not good enough. When I think on this, the first thing that comes to mind is music. We hear songs on the radio and we love them, but after a while we listen to a new song, and it replaces the old.

That’s a common concept, but it rarely works with anything important. Anyway, there’s my food for thought for the day. Take care. Oh and listen to Chris Rice.
